I’m Irina Kremsner, a weaning coach based in Austria.
In January 2024, I gave birth to my daughter, Freya, and when it came to introducing solids, I was faced with a huge amount of new information:
- What is forbidden to eat?
- Which products are good for my child?
- How often should I feed her?
- How can I instill good eating habits and avoid pickiness?
So I began researching this topic thoroughly and applying the information I’d learned. My background as a chemist (PhD) helped me find and process information, as well as understand processes from a scientific perspective. My daughter began eating well, and mealtimes together have become one of our favorite times of the day. We truly enjoy eating together! I realised I wanted other mothers to experience this pleasure, rather than the stress and anxiety that often accompany it:
- “He doesn’t eat anything!”
- “He’s going to be hungry again soon, and I don’t know what to cook!”
- “How can I give him the age-appropriate 100/150/… grams of food if he’s throwing everything around?”
(Spoiler: no need to keep track of grams). I then trained as a specialist in complementary feeding, nutrition, and eating behaviour for young children, and now I enjoy helping families.

Problems
If you, like me, love drinking your coffee hot, but because of the baby’s solids, you’ve started drinking it cold and on the go, then you’ve come to the right place. But seriously:
What nutritional issues do I work on:
- Preparing for solids: what to buy, when to start, what foods to introduce, including introducing allergens
- Conventional solids and BLW
- The child doesn’t want to sit in a high chair and/or throws food
- Daily routine
- Eating behavior
- The child is a picky eater
- Choosing a balanced diet
- Picky eating, neophobia (fear of trying new things)
- Gag reflex
- Eating while watching cartoons, while distracted
It’s important to note that since I’m not a doctor, in some situations I may recommend you visit the appropriate specialist (pediatrician, allergist, sensory development specialist, speech therapist, breastfeeding specialist).
